The outlandish claims by the mainstream media giants are that conservatives do not get censored. This is an outright lie and misrepresentation of the truth. CNN claims conservatives aren’t being censored because they get more daily views than liberal posts. I’m sorry, but that isn’t proof that conservatives aren’t being censored, it’s only proof that there are more conservatives than liberals. The Washington Post claims there isn’t any bias against conservative outlets because the CEOs of Facebook and Google told them so. My question to the Washington Post; If tech giants like Facebook and Google were silencing conservatives illegally, why would they tell you? CBS claims conservatives aren’t being silenced unfairly because tech giants don’t have to follow the 1st Amendment granting free speech, because the 1st Amendment only protects you from the government; This means that big tech platforms can create their own rules and have their AI target whatever they deem is against their rules. Unfortunately, that doesnt harbor a defense against conservative censorship, only justifies it.
Here are many predominant creators and how they are being censored;
- The Hodgetwins: On Aug 28th, they received a warning from Facebook that their page will be unpublished, which means deleted if they fail to meet community guidelines. The Hodgetwins are very popular in the conservative net, hosting nearly 6 million facebook followers and almost 2 million on other platforms like Youtube. The Hodgetwins continued to hint that their warning revolved around Facebook’s very vague bullying rule. Their rule just states they have the ability to remove any attacks that may be deemed as severe, such as talking about someone’s personal traits.
- Tim Pool, also known for his youtube channel Tim Cast IRL, has daily videos, sometimes many videos posted on a single day, also fights youtube for demonetizing his videos and flagging his channel for violating their vague guidelines on bullying and misleading information. Youtube hasn’t been as hard on Tim Pool as other conservative creators; However Tim does gain more revenue through donations because of the demonetizations. That being said, Tim Pool combined across his three youtube channels has a total of over 2.5 million subscribers and has been a huge voice for new conservatives.
- Steven Crowder (Louder with Crowder): Was demonetized in June 2019 over criticising Vox’s Carlos Maza, Youtube quickly removed any features for Steven Crowder to get money on the platform. After long legal battles, Vox was notified that Steven Crowder did not violate any of their policies and was given the ability to monetize his videos in August of 2020; However, Youtube notified Steven Crowder that his content does not qualify for any of youtube ad partners. Although there are hundreds of political opinion creators still being monetized to this day, many being left leaning like The Young Turks. Steven Crowder has over 4.7 million subscribers and is very right leaning.
- More recently, even our President, Donald J. Trump had multiple posts, or tweets, on Twitter in reference to mail in ballots that were flagged and censored based on some of the same misleading or even vague guidelines. Since the tweet, we’ve seen some primaries lose tens of thousands of ballots; For example, New York losing over 90,000 ballots because of fraud and New Jersey throwing out 19% of their special election ballots. Twitter has not changed their stance on censoring President Donald J. Trumps tweets, even with evidence piling on daily.
- Bitchute: In Aug of 2020, Bitchute received a complete ban on all links directing to their website on Twitter; This is in response to a report that Bitchute was allowing alt-right videos on their platform, which Bitchute has remained firm in allowing free speech on their platform and attempts to intervene as little as possible in creators content. That being said, because other platforms censor conservative views as much as they do, Bitchute does gather a healthy amount of conservative posts. Bitchute received on average 800,000 daily views.
- The Federalist and ZeroHedge both in June of 2020 were completely banned by Google to receive any kind of ad revenue due to their comment sections. Since then, the Federalist regained their ability to gain ad revenue pending The Federalist fixes their issues with their comment sections.
These are only a few instances of conservatives being censored. Using the same allotted time to search for liberal leaning platforms being censored, I found none. If you are active on social media, and join conservative groups; You’ll see that conservatives’ posts are constantly being fact-checked, most of the time incorrectly, whereas most liberal comment sections rarely receive the same amount of attention. As we speak, I am in two fact-checking battles with factcheck.org over their misleading and incorrect fact checks on recent CDC reports showing only 6% of the reported deaths can be confirmed to be covid-19 only. There is hope for more websites like Parler to take over Facebook’s community and for Bitchute to take over reddit and youtube’s communities, as they are rising in popularity among conservatives and moderates.
